  10. START WITH WHAT YOU BELIEVE WHAT PRODUCT HOW PROCESS WHY PURPOSE If you want to succeed at something, you need to know WHY you are doing it.

  11. So how do you find your purpose and how do you help your students find their purpose? • According to Viktor Frankel who wrote “Man’s Search for Meaning”, you find your purpose through one of three ways: • A close loving relationship • Suffering • Service to others

  12. In order to find your purpose you have to look at what you value…..and this is something you should re-examine on a regular basis.

  13. REFLECTING AND RELATING ASK PURPOSEFUL QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR LIFE WHAT ARE YOU MOST THANKFUL FOR? WHAT ARE MY MOST DEEPLY FELT VALUES? HOW DO I WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY? WHO AM I? WHO DO I WANT TO SERVE? WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?

  14. WHAT’S NEXT? • After you’ve identified what you are passionate about….. • What aspects of your life do you most want to improve and/or change right now? • What knowledge, experience, training, and personal relationships do you need to get there? • Who can you get for help, support, and/or accountability?

  15. TRY SOMETHING NEW FOR 30 DAYS • Exercise at least four days a week… • Meditate for at least 5 minutes every day… • Write in a journal every day… • Read to your child(ren) every night before bed… • Choose to drink water (instead of soda) every day… • Eat a piece of fruit every day… • Read 10 pages in a book every day… • Sleep for at least 7 hours every day… • Clean up the clutter in one room every day… • Tell your partner “I Love You” first thing in the morning and before bed every night… • No TV in the evening… • Say something positive/encouraging from the heart to at least one staff member every day… • Be grateful for something every day… We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle

  16. All of us are born for a reason, but all of us don't discover why. Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others. Danny Thomas, Founder, St. Jude Hospital

  17. WHAT IF??? What if …..we showed up to work every day simply to be better than ourselves. What if ….the goal this week was to do better work than we did the week before. To make this month better than last month…..for no other reason except that we want to leave the program in a better state than we found it.
