  1. LESSON 32 CONNECTIONS • Because of the wickedness of humankind, God destroyed much of his creation by means of a flood. How did God show Noah that he still cared for his creation and that he would continue to provide for it? He promised no more destruction like that, and to provide seasons for growing crops.

  2. LESSON 32 CONNECTIONS • When Dylan’s mom lost her job, his parents were worried that they might have a hard time taking care of the family. What reminders do you find in Psalm 145:15,16 that would remind Dylan’s parents that they didn’t need to worry? God takes care of everyone and everything.

  3. LESSON 32 CONNECTIONS • Give examples showing how God defends and protects us through the blessings of medicine and technology. Insulin for diabetics, heart pacemakers, etc.

  4. LESSON 32 CONNECTIONS • The greatest treasure we have is the promise of eternal life through Jesus. How does God spare us from the harm of having that treasure taken from us? God gives his Word to strengthen our faith.

  5. Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever.

  6. LESSON 33 CONNECTIONS • Why should we have expected all 10 lepers to return to thank Jesus? Jesus had just healed all of them, and they should have returned to thank him.

  7. LESSON 33 CONNECTIONS • One way to thank God for the many specific blessings he has given is to use each blessing in a way that serves him. How might you thank God if he has given you… artistic abilities? musical abilities? athletic abilities?

  8. LESSON 33 CONNECTIONS • Mr. Jenkins criticizes the government and complains about government officials. He also tells jokes that insinuate that our government leaders are bungling fools. If Mr. Jenkins were concerned about showing appreciation for God’s goodness, how would his attitude and actions toward the government change? He would respect and support the government.

  9. The 1st Article of the Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. What does this mean? I believe that God created meand all that exists, and that he gave me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my mind and all my abilities.

  10. The 1st Article of the Apostles’ Creed And I believe that God still preserves me by richly and daily providing clothing and shoes, food and drink, property and home, spouse and children, land, cattle, and all I own, and all I need to keep my body and life. God also preserves me by defending me against all danger, guarding and protecting me from all evil.

  11. The 1st Article of the Apostles’ Creed All this God does only because he is my good and merciful Father in heaven, and not because I have earned or deserved it. For all this I ought to thank and praise, to serve and obey him. This is most certainly true.

  12. THE APOSTLES’ CREED – 2NDARTICLETHE PERSON OF JESUS CHRIST Lesson 34 Faith Foundations Course One

  13. WHO IS JESUS CHRIST?

  14. TRUE SON OF GOD • Read Matthew 1:18-23. When Joseph found out that Mary was going to have a baby, he was troubled. An angel appeared to him to tell him about this baby. List at least two things the angel said which show that this was a very special child. He was conceived in Mary by the Holy Spirit. He would be called Jesus because he would save his people.

  15. TRUE SON OF GOD • Recall the account of Jesus’ baptism in Matthew 3:13-17. At the time of his baptism, very few people knew who Jesus was. How did God identify Jesus? God spoke from heaven to say this was his Son.

  16. TRUE SON OF GOD • What does the fact that Jesus is God’s Son tell us about Jesus? He must also be God.

  17. TRUE SON OF GOD • Read John 1:1,2,14. What clues do you find that the person called “the Word” is Jesus? He is God. He became flesh. He is the one and only Son of the Father.

  18. TRUE SON OF GOD • What does John 1:1 tell us about Jesus? He existed from the very beginning.

  19. TRUE SON OF GOD • “I don’t understand what all the fuss over Jesus is about,” Janelle said when her friend told her that she was a Christian. “Jesus was a good man, but just a man. There have been a lot of other good men.” The following passages show that she was wrong. What do they tell about Jesus?

  20. TRUE SON OF GOD • 1 John 5:20 Jesus is the true God and eternal life. b. Romans 9:5 Christ is God over all. • Jeremiah 23:6 Jesus was called the LORD, the name that belongs only to God.

  21. TRUE SON OF GOD • “Mom,” Wendy looked puzzled, “Laura said her church teaches that Jesus was a man who showed us how to live a good enough life so we can go to heaven. Is that right?” Many people have been misled to believe something like that. Read John 5:23. Why is such false teaching so serious? If you don’t believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then you don’t believe what the Father said about him. That is unbelief.

  22. TRUE SON OF GOD • Read Matthew 28:18. God gave Jesus all authority on earth. Jesus used his mighty power and authority to perform miracles. What does that prove about him? Jesus is true God.

  23. KEY POINT #1 Jesus Christ is true God.

  24. TRUE SON OF MAN • Recall the Bible story of Jesus’ birth and early life in Luke 2. In what ways was Jesus like any other baby? He was born, had a mother, had a body and soul. He grew and became strong, and he grew in wisdom.

  25. TRUE SON OF MAN • Read 1 Timothy 2:5. We have learned that Jesus is God. What else does this passage tell us about Jesus? He is a man.

  26. TRUE SON OF MAN • How do the following passages prove the fact that Jesus is a man? a. Matthew 4:2b. Mark 4:28 He was hungry. He slept. c. John 11:35 d. John 19:28 He wept. He was thirsty. e. John 19:30 He died.

  27. TRUE SON OF MAN • Read Isaiah 53:5. Isaiah wrote about the Savior that God had promised. Why was it necessary fro the Savior God to become a man? He had to suffer and die for our sins.

  28. TRUE SON OF MAN • “Dana, every year on Good Friday, I wonder if Jesus really hurt as much as we would have. I mean, since he was God,” Shelly wondered, “couldn’t he have made it not hurt when he was crucified?” What do you think? The Bible said Jesus suffered. In fact, he suffered more because he had the guilt of the whole world on him and he was forsaken by his heavenly Father.

  29. TRUE SON OF MAN • After Daniel’s car accident, he spent four weeks in the hospital. He had casts on both legs, a sling for his arm, and he was in tremendous pain. During one of his visits, his pastor said that Jesus knew all about pain. Whenever we experience pain, why is it comforting for us to know that Jesus is true man? He knows what we’re going through, and he can help.

  30. TRUE SON OF MAN • It’s especially comforting for us to know that Jesus is true man when the thought of our sins bothers us. Why? We know he suffered and died in our place to take away our guilt.

  31. KEY POINT #2 Jesus Christ is true man.

  32. WHO IS JESUS CHRIST? • Jesus Christ is true God. • Jesus Christ is true man. SUMMARY Jesus Christ is true God and true man in one person.
