influencing administrators
Influencing Administrators
  • Keep your eyes open for danger signs (e.g., program changes in staffing, college university climate, neglect, politics, “picking at the edges” of the program).
  • TCP: Look for exciting special issues this year; new editor will be Lydia Buki with manuscripts in 2014
  • CoA: (a) On probation cases, there will be a response timeframe during which requirements are met or not. (b) Attend carefully to “broad & general” requirement (but not necessarily full courses). (c) G&P re-examination process has begun.
  • BEA: “E&T 4 HSP” work group; professional psychology vs. health service psychology. HSP competencies and Counseling Psychology.
  • APPIC: Attend APPIC Conference—Quality Training Equals Quality Psychologists, April 26-28, Tempe, AZ. About 800 didn’t match in 2011 match; good response to Phase I and Phase 2 process in 2011.
  • ACCTA: effects of technology (Skyping in jammies; interviewing on cell phones while driving; Facebook); need more focus on case/change process conceptualization; honest DCT comments on APPI
  • Public Comment Opportunities: CRSPP petition; new IRs; HSP work group products.
  • Run for CCPTP Executive Board.
  • Nominate for Student Award and Lifetime Achievement Award—volunteer to review.
  • Pay your dues.
  • Piloting MCAC accreditation.
  • ABPP: You’re never too old!
  • CCPTP 2013 Midwinter Conference, February 7-9, Austin, TX
