  1. Understanding the KVM Console and its Types

  2. Data centers are evolving as the days are passing, and their requirements have also changed, whether it’s the data center equipment or KVM switches consoles. A KVM switch is a hardware device used to control multiple computers with a single switch. According to various requirements, the KVM switches have been modified, and different types have been introduced. However, there are two primary types of KVM switches which are: Single-user KVM switch: This type of KVM switch is often used for more minor uses. For example, this type of console is ideal for a small office and allows a single person to control as many computers as one likes from a single KVM Console. Multi-user KVM switch: These types of switches are used for larger data centers and companies wherein multiple people are required to manage various computers at a time.

  3. If we further segregate these switches, they can be divided into two types: Analogue KVM Switches: These KVM switches have direct contact from the computer to the KVM switch and the console. The type of cables used is Coax or Cat5, depending upon the requirement. Digital KVM Switches: these types of KVM consoles work based on IP address; these switches allow you to control the system from any place all over the world with the help of IP addresses. It could work with the company’s LAN or from anywhere in the world. The computers still need to be connected from the computers to the KVM switches, but the users controlling the computers do not require joining with the KVM switches.
