Reading cultures. Kevin Tyre (GoMRI graduate student at FGCU) and Laura Markley monitor phytoplankton culture growth on a Turner fluorometer. Kevin will be examining the effects of Macondo oil on phyplankton physiology.
Collecting phytoplankton. Kevin collects phytoplankton from the Gulf of Mexico (West Florida Shelf) to isolate cells to establish clonal cultures for experimentation.
