  1. Fire Behavior Knowledge Base (FBKB) http://www.fbkb.ca/

  2. The FBKB is a Joint project of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Canadian Forest Service and the University of Toronto. 3. FBKB • The FBKB is a searchable web based database of wildland fire behaviour observations. • Allows Fire Behaviour analysts to describe a fuel complex, search through the observation database and review field fire behaviour observations from similar fuel situations.

  4. FBKB • Users can also record their own observations of fire behaviour (fuels, weather, and resulting fire behaviour) building their own private database, and then submit that back to us and we will then include it in the master data base.

  5. The master database continually grows and users can continually download updated versions, allowing access to the current state of the knowledge for fire behaviour prediction.

  6. Site Structure

  7. FBKB-upgrade • Working on future prototype to improve functionality and interface with users • Desire to capture data sets based on fire behavior triangle • Weather • Fuel • Fire behavior • Terrain

  8. FBKB-upgrade • Search engine allows query for all FB elements • Search results can be filtered down to data you wish to work with • Data collection is formatted to include • Required data point info. Mandatory info • Additional data info to supplement basic data point, to create a full data set.

  9. Alberta PB Case studies • Have uploaded case study information for: • Mt. Nestor, Meadowland, Hutton, Hat Mtn. Archer Lake • Have posted documents, PB images, and video on site.
