  5. The formation of ICOGS was a canadien initiative ( Chris Findlay) ICOGS have had business meetings and symposia at the IGC during the last 20 years

In the business meeting of ICOGS on August 26, 2004 in Florence a committee was appointed to look at the future of ICOGS:Irvin Itzkovitch, Canada ( Chairman), Marco Amanti, Italy, Arne Bjørlykke; Norway, Somsak Potsiak, Thailand, David Falvey, UK, Eduardo Zappentini, Argentina, Neil Williams, Australia, Fatima Jussub Momade, Mozambique, Hussein M Sabir, Saudi Arabia

  7. The committee never started to work and EuroGeoSurvey decided to take the initiative to produce background material for the Business Meeting at IGC in August 2008

  8. All national geological surveys are invited to be members og ICOGS. They will form a assembly that will meet every four year.

  9. Between the assembly meeings, ICOGS will have a permanent Board with 1 to 2 representativs for regional organisations like CCOP and EGS

  10. ICOGS should advice and inform international bodies like UNESCU; UNDP, World Bank and others.
