  1. H2S Cascade Systems

  2. Sabre Safety • H2S can be found in many jobsites, not just petroleum industry operations. It may accumulate wherever a mixture of hydrocarbons and sulphur are found. Oil and gas fields, tankers and production facilities have the potential to contain significant amounts of the gas. Besides these locations, there are a variety of organic sources where H2S can be found, including such unlikely spots as ship’s holds, mine shafts, pulp mills, swamps, and sewers. H2S is a natural by-product of organic decay. • All petroleum industry jobsites are potential locations of the gas. In order to predict likely locations of H2S, you first need to be aware of the physical properties of the gas itself. What it’s like and how it behaves provide general clues about potentially hazardous situations. You can use this type of information to avoid exposure, injury and possibly death.

  3. What Is H2S? • Highly Toxic • Colourless • Heavier than air • Smells of rotten eggs • Formed from rotting vegetation • Flammable & Auto Ignites(4.3-46% ;500F,260C) • Burns with a blue flame • Produces SO2,CO,CO2,Nox,H2S • Corrosive(SSC,Embrittlement,Iron Sulphide) • Soluble in Water

  4. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS H2S is a poisonous gas. The effects of exposure can range from minor discomfort to death. It is not enough to be able to recognize the gas and know where it is likely to occur. You also need to know how much it takes to harm you. Moreover, since potential sources of H2S are generally known, you should identify specific locations where a release might occur. If this happens, your first response must be to get out of the area.

  5. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS 5 PPM Time Weighted Average (T.W.A.) is the maximum exposure for an eight hour day. Workers may have 5 PPM T.W.A. exposure to H2S for an eight hour period, provided that the 10 PPM O.E.L is not exceeded in that 8 hour period.  10 PPM Short Term Exposure level is acceptable for no more than 15 minutes, with no more than four exposures per 8 hour day. Each exposure must be separated by at least 60 minutes of no exposure.

  6. The Sabre Safety Management System(SSMS) is certified to ISO 9001:2000

  7. We are registered with First Point Assessment , the supplier evaluation website.

  8. Cascade Systems • If a company determines that there may be a risk of exposure to H2S higher than the OEL set out in EH 40 (5 ppm), then they will ask an H2S Service Provider to supply a system

  9. Sabre will discuss the clients requirements and advise them of the best system to suit their needs: • Low Risk Package • Full Cascade • Cascade with fixed GD System

  10. Sabre Safety has also developed specific H2S Safety Systems to meet the changing demands of the offshore industry.

  11. Tempest Mini Cascade

  12. Tempest Mini Cascade • The supplied breathing air system is based on a fully transportable skid mounted unit measuring approximately 1.3m x 2m x 2m. It is certified to DNV 2.71 making the system cost effective, mobile and efficient while meeting all current Offshore Requirements. • A cascade airline system delivering positive pressure breathing air to 6 outlet connection points, a stored reserve of high pressure air with a capacity of 50 man hours of independent duration. • The high pressure (4500psi/300bar) air supply is fed via high pressure lines to the main control distribution panel. The high pressure air is then reduced at the control panel to 7 bar. This reduced air is then fed into the distribution manifold for delivery to the 6 breathing air hose reel connection points. • The Skid Unit consists of a steel frame complete with forklift ports below and shackle lifting points on top. It has hinged side and rear panels to allow access to the manifold, hose reels and cylinders. Gross wt of the unit is less than 2500Kgs and is mounted in a substantial crash frame. • The complete package provides flexibility, strength and protection, easily transported to any area with no set up time required on arrival.

  22. Hose Reels • Designed to keep the work area safe and tidy when airline hoses are not • required at the work area and for the user to be able to control the amount of hose that is “laid out” when low pressure airline breathing apparatus is used.

  23. The Outlet Manifolds are installed at the risk areas/ work sites to supply breathing air to personnel via the retractable hose reels, personal airline hoses and working breathing apparatus. Each outlet manifold can supply air to five users. A sixth outlet is designated for a warning device to alert working personnel to any interruption of normal air supply. Outlet Manifold

  24. DISTRIBUTION MANIFOLD • The 21 outlet distribution manifold is linked to either of the Cascade Control panels (CP1 or CP2) to provide individual control of the main supply lines that run to the outlet manifolds in the risk/ work areas.

  25. Control Panel • A dual reduction control panel, designed to the highest technical and quality specification, which is housed within the containerised safety system. The CP supplies low pressure breathing air, delivering in excess of 350 lpm, flows to all low pressure outlets, as well as having auxiliary high and low pressure supply capabilities.

  26. Gas Detection • The Gas Alert Max Four Sensors • Internal Sampling pump • Black & Decker 2 port charger and two versapak TM Batteries • 10 Ft Sampling Hose • Carry Holster with Belt Loop • Larger LCD shows a simultaneous real-time display of concentration for H2S, CO, O2 and LEL • Simple Operation with one button control, auto cal, auto zero and auto full function self test

  27. Gas Detection • Two years of protection (1yr. O2 ) with zero maintenance costs. Gas Alert Clip is equipped with more safety features than any other gas monitor of its type including • Status –At-A-Glance, large continuous, confidence LCD display • Displays life remaining in months, days and hours. • Displays peak alarm exposures encountered. • Daily self test ( auto and on demand ) • Available with Internal Vibrator Alarm

  28. This reliable and robust Bauer compressor charges both the Cascade airline breathing system and the cylinders for the portable breathing apparatus. Charging rate of 15.5 cfm/ 440 lpm. Includes a purification system to deliver breathing air to meet EN 132. Charging pressure up to 300 bar Charging points for Cascade airbanks, BA, and escape set cylinders. 15 EEXD drive motor with V – belt tension adjuster. BASEEFA certified. Compressor
