  3. Forewords Simona Tanning, as a social responsible company , produces environmental leather. We grasp every possibility to protect our living environment through reducing energy, water, solvent use and solid waste generation during processing.

  4. Changes We MadeWATER • All treated water from MBR is going to RO system for treatment. • Build up rain water recycling system to collect rain water • Use condensate system to reuse steam condensate as hot without steam heating again • Reuse lab returning water • Set up departmental production water consumption target • Put departmental water consumption into staff KPI assessment • Attribute the hot water to employee area for taking bath and sale extra condensation to the wood fired boiler.

  5. Changes We MadeWATER All treated water from MBR is going to RO system for treatment. The average RO water used for process was higher than 60% of total processing water needed of whole year.

  6. Changes We MadeWATER Build up rain water recycling system to collect rain water. The whole trial collecting area is 2448m2, according to the yearly rain in Huizhou of 1705MM that we can save about 4174m3 water a year.

Changes We MadeETP • Utilize Fenton system to treat concentrate • MBR membranes replacement • Install more aeration pipes in the old ETP • Reduce the chemical adding in Fenton process • Divide the second settlement tank into second settlement tank and biological settlement tank • Fix sludge scrapper in the biological settlement tank • Reedbeds treatment trial • Move the air pipes the side of the facultative tank in the old ETP, which is not only help to push water swirled and make sludge move but also good for taking out the broken aerator without pumping out all water. • Use submerge propeller instead of diving mixer in the balance tank in the new ETP that each one can save about 1kw/h. • Construct one more tank for planting Vertiver at Reedbed to get better trial result of effluent treatment. • Cancel some aerobic tanks in the new ETP. • Utilize the REDOX DAF to replace the current DAF

Changes We MadeENERGY • Install air extractors for improving air flow to make leather drier in natural air. • Use solar power as hot water resource (still on trial) • Set up departmental production energy consumption target • Put departmental energy consumption into staff KPI assessment • Add heat isolating curtains on some machines to save steam usage • Install heat isolating layers at the bottom of the tunnel for the roller coater to keep warm to reduce about 1/6 electricity usage. • Utilize energy saving light tubes, save about 1/3-1/4 electricity use. • Utilize the separate switches to control steam supplying to the past unit specially.

  39. New Achievement • Got LWG Gold Metal at the earlier of year 2009

  40. New Achievement • Pass the Genuine Leather Mark Eco-Leather assessment by China Leather Industry Association in the year 2009 and get the Eco-leather certificate/ board/ seals in the early of the year 2010.

  41. New Achievement • Received the award as tannery of the year for China as this is the biggest tannery base in the world and took the first place award ahead of our competitors.  This is a wonderful accomplishment after only 4 years of tannery operations.
