What is Asthma? • Asthma is a chronic lung disease identified by inflammation and narrowing of the airways • Symptoms of asthma include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath • People may take medications to prevent the symptoms from returning or to treat symptoms as they are occurring Source: National Heart Lung and Blood Institute
