Stentorian: extremely loud, often with especially deep richness of sound • You will notice throughout the year, I have a stentorian voice that teachers all around the hall will be able to hear. (ha!) • Again, another old guy from the Illiad, Stentor, had a powerful voice to give us this word.
Stoic: seemingly indifferent to pleasure or pain • Stoics were members of a philosophical movement from ancient Greece to Roman era. • Think of a stoic person as one who endures mental and physical pain without complaint.
Sybaritic: marked by a luxurious or sensual way of life • Ancient city Sybaris—famous for wealth and luxury • Think: Rich Kids of Instagram. Now you want to punch them.
