  4. > on this list, I'm getting the sense that the software is still immature

  5. > and buggy.

  6. I think most of the problems that we see are related to system

  7. misconfigurations -- i.e. older versions of Python, using less

  8. common MTAs like exim, etc.

  9. The software has proven itself to be robust in my applications, but

  10. it does take some getting used to. It's difficult to transition from

  11. majordomo and Mailman and expect the same functionality. Each MLM has

  12. its own strengths and weaknesses, so you may need to step outside the

  13. box and re-evaluate what you're really trying to do. Chances are

  14. it can be done with Mailman, but just not the way that you were used

  15. to.

  16. But, as with any newly released software, bugs are being found and

  17. changes are being made. I don't think any of them are show-stoppers,

  18. though.

  19. > What kinds of experiences can people share as to the reliability and

  20. > robustness of mailman?

  21. I don't use it very much; there's probably a half dozen lists with a

  22. maximum of 600 users running at mallorn.com. But I haven't had many

  23. problems at all... It is important to keep up with new releases, as

  24. bug fixes and new features are constantly being added.

  25. All of the mailman lists at python.org are running on Mailman too, so

  26. I'd assume that it handles well!

  28. P.S. If you look at the archives (linked from www.list.org) you'll see

  29. some success stories from different people. There's also a search

  30. interface at
