Wind System • Firestorm is a conflagration which has such intensity that it actually creates and sustains its own wind system. • Firestorms are created using the stack effect, which creates such a strong updraft that it actually pulls adjacent air in which creates fierce winds that blow towards the center.

Where • Firestorms have occurred both in natural conditions such as the Great Peshtigo Fire in Wisconsin or the Ash Wednesday fires in southeast Australia • Also artificial conditions, such as in the aerial bombings of Hamburg, Dresden, and Tokyo or the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
