AACSB Accreditation Process • Establish membership in AACSB • Retain consultant • Submit Eligibility Application to PreAccreditation Committee • AACSB will assign a mentor • Mentor visits campus • University submits an strategic plan and accreditation plan for review and approval. • Once plan is approved, mentor works with university up to three years as plan is implemented. • A team Chair will be appointed two years in advance of the anticipated accreditation review team visit. • Visit occurs within five years of acceptance of plan by the initial (not PreAccreditation) accreditation acceptance of initial accreditation plan.

Strategic Planning • Strategic Planning • Should guide decisions, practice, and resource allocation • Accreditation is linked to school’s mission • Mission • must be consistent with institution’s mission • determines the balance of the three types of intellectual contributions • type of student served • match resources available to the school • consistent with faculty capability

Faculty Qualifications • Faculty Qualifications • must have sufficient faculty to manage instruction, curriculum & course development, assessment of learning • Must have Academic Qualification (AQ) and Professional Qualification (PQ) policies • define required level of intellectual contributions (Ph.D.) • 90% of faculty must be either AQ or PQ • 50% must be AQ • Standard is 3-4 peer reviewed articles over 5 years for Ph.D. programs • AQ must be distributed across faculty

Assurance of Learning & Assessment • Assurance of Learning: Define learning expectations (skills & knowledge) and assure the graduates achieve learning expectations (undergraduate, MS and Ph.D. • oral presentation skills • written communication skills • second language skills • ability to integrate concepts • Assessment: Are you accomplishing what you want to accomplish • select students based on knowledge and skills • language, communication, quantitative skills • course embedded measurement in class exercises for specific courses • In class exercises for specific courses • Writing, integration, critical thinking • stand-along testing or performance • Thesis, ETS exam, comprehensive exam
