Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources in Estonia: A Collaborative Approach

The Baltic Sea Network for the Management and Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) in Estonia, initiated in December 2010, brings together key institutions such as the Polli Horticultural Research Institute and the Jõgeva Plant Breeding Institute. This collaborative initiative focuses on preserving genetic resources, including cultivated crops like barley, oats, and winter rye, as well as wild crop relatives. The Memorandum of Understanding highlights the commitment of associate members to support sustainable agriculture and conservation efforts, ensuring valuable genetic diversity for future breeding programs.
