The John W. Hallahan School aims to foster effective communication and professional collaboration among faculty and staff by constructing a Ning platform. This 24/7 accessible online community will enable faculty to share Best Practices, integrate Web 2.0 tools, and collaboratively address classroom issues. Faculty members will participate in training sessions, access school resources, and contribute to essential curriculum mapping. Continuous assessment will track engagement and usage of the Ning to ensure a productive learning environment.

OBJECTIVE • Within the school community, faculty and staff, we will construct a Ning that will promote effective communication and professional collaboration with 24/7 worldwide access. Through the Ning the faculty will have the opportunity to: • Post and discuss Best Practices • Assist or be assisted in learning and integrating Web 2.0 tools • Construct Essential Curriculum • Collaborate on School and classroom issues • Communicate with one another in “Green” fashion
The ProcessPLP Members will • Create a Hallahan school Ning • Research and post instructions for Google Docs to the Ning • Present small group instructional sessions to faculty at the March 23 Inservice • Post discussion topics to the Ning for faculty input
Initial Assessment March 23, 2009 Faculty completes questionnaire to establish baseline for web 2.0 tools.
Phase One Faculty members will: • Obtain a Google e-mail account for professional collaboration • Join the Hallahan Ning • Learn the various components of the Ning • Comment on two postings • Access delineated instructions and video on one Web 2.0 tool located in the Ning • Collaborate with 2 faculty members on a Google document
OngoingFaculty members will use the Hallahan Ning to: • Access all school resources (calendar, handbook, etc) • Receive pertinent school communications • Post and discuss Best Practices • Continue to develop Web 2.0 skills through delineated instruction/videos • Continue the Curriculum Mapping process and collaborate with fellow faculty on the construction of essential curriculum • Utilize the Ning for all schools and classroom issues that arise
Ongoing Assessment • Weekly analysis of the Ning by PLP members to gauge faculty usage of the Ning especially as evidenced by • Faculty created discussion • Number of Faculty postings and commentary • Development of school Curriculum map • Posting of Best Practices
