  3. Established by Decision 14 of the AU Assembly of January 2010. [Assembly/AU/14 (XIV) ] as the Technical Body of the African Union (AU), with the following functions: African Action Plan (AAP) & Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative (PICI) Mandate and functions of NPCA Facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the continental and regional priority and projects; programs Mobilize resources and partners in support of the implementation of Africa’s priority programs and projects; Conduct and coordinate research and knowledge management; Monitor and evaluate the implementation of programs and projects; and Advocate on the AU and NEPAD vision, mission and core principles/values; Adama Deen, Head of Infrastructure Programs & Projects, NPCA, adamad@nepad.org

African Action Plan (AAP): Priority Action Plan (PAP): 2010-2015 • Key AAP: high impact and result projects • Stage 4 level: • Kenya–Ethiopia Interconnection • OMVG Energy generation and interconnection • Zambia–Tanzania–Kenya Interconnection • Stage 4 level: • Gambia Bridge project • Kazungula Bridge Project • Implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision • The African Action Plan: short term priority program (2010-2015) • 23 Infrastructure Projects • Energy (5) • Transport (9) • ICT (6) • Transboundary water (3) • Net resource requirement • US$9.3 billion • To financial close on the 23 priority projects

  6. African Action Plan (AAP): Way Forward • Develop Advocacy Strategy • Develop resource mobilization strategy led by the AUC, NPCA, AfDB • 3. Undertake advocacy road shows to seekbuy-in from Stakeholders: • RECs, national governments • CSOs • Partners • in support of key AAP low hanging fruit projects • 4. Investment Roundtable • To mobilize the net resources of US$9.3 billion required to financial close on the AAP priority projects, in collaboration with ICA++.
