RBC in the Marketplace • RBC has a longstanding history of supporting new immigrants coming to Canada and wants to be the financial services provider of choice for New Canadians. • RBC actively markets and responds to the needs of cultural markets, and key areas of focus include Koreans, Chinese, South Asians and Black communities. • RBC re-launched its “Welcome to Canada” Newcomer to Canada internet portal: http://www.rbc.com/canada/index.html. The portal offers additional products, services and advice to individuals who are immigrating to Canada or have been in Canada less than 3 years. Language Capability • RBC will continue to offer clients the opportunity to conduct business by phone in one of 150 languages. • Top 10 languages staff speak include: English, French, Italian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, Hindi, Punjabi, Spanish, Urdu.

  5. Barriers to Employment Many new immigrants face systemic and personal barriers to employment in the Canadian job market. It is important to be aware of these barriers and to develop strategies to deal with these barriers and/or minimize their impact. More information on Internships Internship: AnInternship provides real world experience to those looking to explore or gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular career field. • RBC offers paid internships to internationally educated professionals • through the Career Bridge Program: • Provides paid internships that last between 4 and 12 months • Participants have 3 or more years of professional experience • Internships help develop both technical and soft skills • Over 60% of interns from this program are hired for permanent roles at RBC
