  2. The Ministry of Electronics and IT gave instructions on setting up an IT infrastructure by the government departments by making use of the technology of cloud computing with a clause mandating that all data must be stored within the country.

  3. MEITY has enlisted 11 companies as the cloud service providers in India to provide cloud computing services to the Government that includes

  4. Sify Technologies Microsoft Corp. Hewlett Packard IBM India

  5. CtrlS Data Centers Tata Communications BSNL Net Magic IT Services

  6. With the help of cloud computing, government can increase the capacity of their IT systems as per the requirements.

  7. Moreover, the guidelines on cloud computing follows MeghRaj Policy (Cloud Policy) in order to provide a strategic direction for the adoption of cloud services by the government.

  8. The focal point of this cloud policy is to realize a comprehensive vision of government cloud environment available only for use by the Central and State Governments, districts and the municipalities to trigger their ICT-enabled service improvements. According to the guidelines, both the Government and Cloud Service Provider will have to share the responsibility for managing the services using the cloud computing facility.
