  2. i, Robot Background • Based in Chicago, 2035 • Will Smith (Det. Spooner) as police officer • U.S. Robotics (USR) developed NS-5 • NS-5’s use logic to trap humans

USR’s 3 Laws • First Law: A robot must never harm a human being, or through inaction allow any harm to come to a human. • Second Law: A robot must obey they orders given to them by human being, except where such order violate the First Law • Third Law: A robot must protect its own existence unless this violates the First or Second laws.

  4. i, Robot Plot: • Det. Spooner saved instead of young girl in car accident due to probability of death. • Det. Spooner sees flaw in logic of robots through investigation of scientist’s death. • Despite futile attempts, Det. Spooner’s theory is dismissed as “highly improbable”. • Robots slowly invade and overpower humans.
