  2. Information • DVB – Started as an ETSI project in Europe • Draft DVB-WHN commercial requirements are intended to allow the production of a DVB/ETSI standard to enable carriage of DVB services via IEEE802.11 Stephen McCann, Siemens Roke Manor

  3. Evolution • DVB-WIN was planning to define two profiles based on HIPERLAN/2 and IEEE 802.11a with suitable extensions • However, the work was put on hold because there was insufficient commitment from DVB members. Stephen McCann, Siemens Roke Manor

Evolution II • IEEE 802.11 technology is now more suitable due to IEEE 802.11e, even though there is debate about the best option to use • Additionally there are now some IEEE 802.11a implementations with IEEE 802.11h extensions, addressing the European approach to interference mitigation.
