  1. INTRODUCTION My Biome: Desert By: Ahmed Zayed 

  2. What is “Desert” Most deserts are hot and dry, for that reason; there is not much animals, but there is some plants though. The animals that live there are the only ones who can hide under ground in the morning and get out at night when it’s colder. A cold desert which is hardly found snows in the winter instead of being a little colder like in hot deserts. It’s not warm enough to grow plants, except for some grass an mosses. The animals in cold deserts will do the same thing but fro the opposite reason, they will burrow themselves to cover from coldness. "Desert Biomes." Desert Biomes. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  3. Desert’s Map around the world The deserts cover about 1 fifth of the earth. There is a lot of deserts in Africa, some in Asia and Australia, and some in North America and South America. The cold deserts are mostly located near the arctic part of the world, the hot deserts are located near the Tropic Of Cancer. "Desert Biomes." Desert Biomes. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  4. Desert’s Animals There are a lot of desert animals like: Camels, Armadillo lizard, Coyote, Banded gila monster, Desert tortoise. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  5. Animals Adaptation with Desert All the animals in the desert have special advantages to help the adapt with there biome: Camel: The camel is the most popular animal in the desert. It has a lot of special things that help him live and adapt with the desert, for example the “hump” on his back that helps him stay not hungry and not thirsty. The camel is also called “The Ship Of The Desert”. It also has special hoovers that help him walk easily in the deep sand of desert. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  6. Armadillo lizard adaptation The armadillo lizard’s nostril is shaped in several pipes. These pipes help it smell the food or predators from far away and under the ground. The armadillo lizard is a non-nocturnal animal. The armadillo lizard eats some insects as it’s main food. The armadillo lizard is very cool because when it feels hot it shapes its self into a circle shape and roll very fast which helps it adapt with the desert, when it’s attacked it also rolls as fast as it can to stay safe. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  7. Coyote adaptation The coyote has many adaptions, first one is its thick mixed cold fur which keeps it cool and helps it adapt with the desert’s weather, second thing is its claws which helps it tear its prey, thirdly its color (brownish) helps it hide between the rocks in the desert which helps it catch its prey easily, finally its strong muscles which helps it run and catch its prey faster and easier. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  8. Banded gila monster adaptation The Banded Gila Monster is a very strange animal. It has many adaptations that could help it survive in the desert. First thing is its long sharp claws that helps it attack easily, and walk in the desert sand easily. Second thing is its venom that can help it catch its prey very quickly. Finally, its ability to strike back very fast which helps it to defend it self from dangerous animals. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  9. Desert Tortoise adaptation The Desert Tortoise have a lot of adaptations that helps it survive in the desert. First thing is its shell that helps it keep cool and it can hide when an animal attacks it. Second thing is its sharp curved mouth to eat the dry plants easily. Finally is its concave plastron that helps it go fast when it’s on the top of a hell, it also can help it go fast to scape from other animals. "Desert Animals." Desert Animals. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  10. Desert’s plants There are a lot of desert plants, but most of them are from the cactus family. I will talk about 5 of them: Barrel cactus, Finger cactus, Saguaro cactus, Crimson cactus, and Star cactus. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  11. Plants adaptation with Desert All desert plants have adaptations to help them survive in the desert. Barrel cactus adaptation Barrel cactus is a circle-shaped cactus. It has no leaves, instead it has thorns, these thorns were created instead of leaves to stop evaporation from the hot sun, which helps it survive in the desert with little water. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  12. Finger cactus adaptation Finger cactus is the same as Barrel cactus, the only difference is that the Finger cactus is shaped as a finger (up standing), that’s why they call it Finger cactus. Its shape helps it survive because of its little evaporation because it has no leaves. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  13. Saguaro cactus adaptation Saguaro cactus looks a lot like Finger cactus, the only difference is that the Saguaro cactus is always more straight with little cactus branches like the Finger cactus. It also has thorns instead of leaves, which helps it survive in the desert with water. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  14. Crimson cactus adaptation The Crimson cactus is so strange where there is several balls of cactus and between these balls grows some flowers, those flowers were created to stop the evaporation of the water, which helps the Crimson cactus to survive easily in the desert with enough water. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  15. Star cactus adaptation The Star cactus is also strange because its one of the only plants in the cactus family that has normal leaves and no horns, but although its leaves are curled up to stop water evaporation, which helps it survive in the hot weather of the desert with enough water. "Desert Plants." Desert Plants. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  16. Abiotic Factors As known the deserts are always hot except the cold deserts. The hot deserts are found near the Tropic of Cancer. While the cold deserts are located near the Arctic part of the world which makes it colder. If we look at the map, we will find that the hot deserts are in a specific horizontal area which is the Tropic of Cancer. And the cold deserts are in a specific horizontal area. "DesertClimate." DesertClimate. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  17. Abiotic factors affect on animals and plants in Desert The Desert climate affects the animals and plants in the desert a lot. If those animals didn’t have the features they have to live in the desert, they will die easily and quickly. So the desert is a special place to live in and specially because all the plants and animals have special advantages to help them live in the desert. "DesertClimate." DesertClimate. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  18. Human affect on desert The human affect on desert is so dangerous. The human affect the desert by many ways. One is by hunting the animals because of their special advantages they have. The second way is to take the desert as a land to live in, some countries are fighting for lands so they hunt the animals to take the desert as their land. "Desert Threats." National Geographic. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  19. The reason of human affect on Desert The most popular reason of human affect on desert is the poorness. The people are hunting the animals to make clothes or shoes or any other thing that is made out of animals fur. They also do that to sell the fur to money. "Desert Threats." National Geographic. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  20. Are human affects good or not, Why For sure human affects are bad becauseit’s making it easy for the animals to extinct, which is so bad. The human affects are also bad because it will make no balance in the earth environment, because we should have human, animals, and plants. And each of these things must have food and shelter. "Desert Threats." National Geographic. N.p., n.d. Web. 19 Jan. 2013.

  21. How can we stop bad human affects on Desert There are many ways to stop human affects on desert. One of them is making the desert as a natural reserve and protect it from animals hunters. Another way is by making some charity foundations to stop huger and poorness which will stop human affect on desert quickly and easily. "Desert Threats." National Geographic. N.p., n.d.
