  2. The traditionalbreadoven in Fayence Located in a smallstreet in the heart of the village, You canfind, not veryeasilly, the old village breadoven. It wasbuilt in 1522 and for many centuries, villagersusedit to baketheirbread and otherdishes. Unfortunately, itwentintodecay and wasn’tusesdanymore. In 1997, a group of local men and womeninterested in the village culture decided to restaure and exhibit the oven to the public. Theycreated an association called « Les amis du four du Mitan » and decided to have a bigcelebrationeverytwoyears: « La fête du pain » (Festival of bread)

  4. You canvisit the ovenfilledwith wax figures dressed the waytheywere in 1897 and surrounded by oldobjectsof thisperiod. • There, youcan have through posters and audio-guides all the detailsconcerning the oven and the ancestral life.

  6. For the particularday, the oldovenisusedagainthanks to the local bakers and breads are sold in the streets of Fayence. • For this occasion, the village was been totallytransformed and decorated as itwas more than one centuryago. • Nearly all the villagersworeold costumes and hats.
