What is Electricity? • Movement of electrically charged particles • Moves as a current • Current is how fast or how slow it follows a pathway from point a to point b • Will always move from the negative object (more electrons) to the positive (less electrons) because positives attract negatives
No charges are created or destroyed • How does an atom get a charge? • Loses an electron • Law of electric charges • Like charges repel • Opposite charges attract • No charges are created or destroyed
How do electric charges move? • Friction: • two objects are touching and in motion • electrons are wiped from one to another • steals electrons • Conduction: • electrons move by direct contact • Electrons are transferred from more to less • Induction: • electrons move without direct contact • one object is charged • rearranges the charge in the other object
