  2. Headquarters: Grant Union High School We participate in and support culturally sensitive cuisine and traditions. We collaborate with partners to educate underserved populations with resources from the Network for a Healthy CA. Legend/Key Terms: CBO: Community Based Organization CYO: Community Youth Organization DHSP: Direct Health Service Provider F/V: Fruit & Vegetable We recruit and train adult mentors from CSUS, UC Davis and the community as role models. We practice peer education.

  3. 5 Main Objectives of EAT Participants: Learn how to identify fruit and vegetable plants Increase knowledge about benefits of eating plant based nutrients for better health Learn how to prepare seasonal healthy meals with garden produce in order to increase consumption of F+V Increase knowledge of healthy food options Reduce the risk of preventable chronic diseases caused by unhealthy dietary habits

  4. Youth Engagement:Fostering positive experiences using fresh fruits and veggies

  5. Innovative ApproachesConsider all the factors, expectations, standards, outcome/goals prior to each session:-Time Constraints, Facilitation skills-Logistics: before, during, and after session-How to work with diverse youthOur 6 Guiding Principles: Adult competencies and youth relevancy
