A WHACK ON THE SIDE OF THE HEAD Chaptr4 By Kirsten Dana, Jonah Stokes, and Anya Bernhard Be Practical
What if? • Ask yourself, “What if?” to get your ideas going • The “What if” question can be anything that you can think up…Just make sure it’s practical.
What If? Continued… • Growing backwards • Imagine the life cycle is backwards… • You should die first, and get it out of the way. • Then you live for 20 years in an old age home and get kicked out when you're too young. • You get a gold watch and then you go to work. • You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy retirement. • You go to college and you party until you're ready for high school. • Then you go to grade school; you become a little kid, you play, you have no responsibilities. • You become a little baby; you go back into the womb • You spend your last 9 months floating, and you finish off as a gleam in somebody's eye.
Imagine How Others Would Do It!!! • Think about how someone else would think about or handle a situation. • What would Winston Churchill do? The Three Stooges? Martin Luther King?
Imagine you’re the Idea!!! • Imagine you were the thing you are trying to change. • Example: You’re a box a Fruit Loops and your box is brown. No one would want to buy you! So what do you do? Add color to the box! Use your imagination!
Stepping Stones!!! *Using “Stepping Stones” is a great way to work up to things. *You don’t execute stepping stones, you launch your thinking from them.
The Problem is Remaining an Artist After Growing Up! • We have to be practical for most of our daily activities-work, school etc. • You can’t hit the imaginary brakes in the car, or do your imaginary homework! • USE PRACTICAL IMAGINARY IDEAS! • Be imaginative, but don’t go overboard.
“First, have a definite, clear practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends: wisdom, money, materials, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end.” Aristotle
