Agency Role in Community • Due to the location of New Way Ministries and it’s parent organization, Project Hope, with their Food Bank serving North County, New Way Ministries is the logical place for the community at large to gather in case of an emergency event. • I’ve included some pertinent emergency contact numbers that the Board of Project Hope meet with Lynden City emergency officials for coordination of resource efforts. • Red Cross http://www.redcross.org • FEMA –Federal Emergency Management Agency http://www.fema.gov/ • Lynden Police 911 360-354-2828 • Lynden Fire Department 307 19th Street 360-318-9933 • For the present, this presentation was done with needs of 13 residents and 3 staff

Other Considerations • Training: • Does everyone gather in a central location? –staff, residents • Fire / Earthquake Drills –staff, residents • First aid training- staff • Staff familiarity with dried food / MRE preparation to lead residents • Flashlights strapped in easy to find locations • Shut-off’s located for water and natural gas • Directions available for water and gas shut-off available • Considerations for the special needs of employees with disabilities and medical conditions • A system for warning employees about emergencies and communicating with employees • Sufficient water to drink and flush toilets available for 13 residents plus 3 staff and volunteers on site • Does New Way coordinate with other divisions on-site ? • Resident files hard copies available due to power off
