CDF Incident Usage

This incident report highlights major problems and concerns related to the control of the fire, as well as the social, political, and economic impacts. It also identifies critical resource needs and highlights the extended time required for mop-up due to fuel type and other factors. The report is submitted twice a day and is used by Sacramento Staff to determine fire priority and impact on state reserves. It is also used to update CDF websites, generate press releases, and brief County EOCs and politicians. The report includes a cost estimate and mapping data, and other applications such as resource ordering and activity reporting are used. Communication issues are also discussed, including the installation of phone lines and the request for HPWREN.

  2. It’s going to be a long day.

Incident Status Summary (ICS-209) 28: Major problems and concerns (control problems, social/political/economic concerns or impacts, etc.) Relate critical resources needs identified above to the Incident Action Plan.Fire burning in area with 'Bug Kill" trees. Large re-burn potential on all divisions. Given the fuel type and height,mop-up will take an extended amount of time. Low humidities, high dead to live fuel ratio, and the number of snags in the area making containment difficult.

  8. 2 Phone lines installed within 24 hrs Request for 20 lines made to SBC around 0900 9/7. No Cell service in area of base camp T-1 ‘Super Trunk’ in place on 9/9 around 1400 hrs, 20 lines in service. Phone went down around 1700 hrs, back to 2 phone lines. Request for HPWREN made evening of 9/6 In place by noon 9/7 IMT sends 1st 209 that night. Volcan Fire Communications
