  1. Angles

  2. Review Identify the following are acute, right, or obtuse. 1. 3. 5. acute obtuse right 2. 4. ? obtuse ? acute

  3. What is an angle? • Angles formed by two rays that share the same endpoint . sides vertex

  4. Acute angle • m<b<90 • Obtuse angle • 180>m<C>90

  5. A right angle is an angle measuring 90 degrees. A straight angle is 180 degrees.

  6. A reflex angle is more than 180

  7. Supplementary angle • do not have to be adjacent • straight line • Complementary angle • do not have to be adjacent • Right angle Adjacent angles: two angles that lie in the same plane, have a common vertex, and a common side; but no common interior point

  8. Complementary and Supplementary Find the missing angle. 1. Two angles are complementary. One measures 65 degrees. 2. Two angles are supplementary. One measures 140 degrees. Answer : 25 Answer : 40

  9. Complementary and Supplementary Find the missing angle. You do not have a protractor. Use the clues in the pictures. 2. 1. x x 55 165 X=35 X=15

  10. Vertical angles • Intersecting lines form an X • Same size and degree measurement

  11. Vertical Angles Find the missing angle. Use the clues in the pictures. X=58 x 58

  12. Angle Addition Postulate If point B is in the interior of angle AOC then m<AOB + m<BOC = m<AOC. If <AOC is a straight angle, then m<AOB + m<BOC = 180.
