It enables software programmers to build applications for mobile devices using JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, instead of device-specific languages such as Objective-C or Java. • www.phonegap.com • PhoneGap: • It is a wrapper allowing us to package mobile sites as mobile applications and subsequently have these on the app stores • It is also a bridge in the sense that it allows us to bridge into the native features of the phone but using JavaScript • By using PhoneGap making two verions of the one app within the 12 hour period will be feasible. • It also means that very little or no Java/Objective C will be required which lowers the barriers to entry for the code-a-thon meaning that “less technical” students can also get involved and be in with a chance of winning the grand prize of €1000.
