  3. Mobile Sources Priorities and Recent Issues • Diesel • Tracking Implementation of 2007 0n-highway Heavy Duty Diesel Rule • Diesel Retrofit; WRAP “Boot Camp”; more demonstration projects being proposed and grant funding made available

Mobile Sources Priorities and Issues • Mobile Sources Air Toxics • EPA Proposed Rule to control MSATs issued • Reduces benzene in gasoline by 36% in 2011 • Tightens standards for non-methane hydrocarbon emissions in new cars • Limits emissions from evaporation/permeation of portable gasoline containers • Most states see this as a needed federal control that will not affect local programs • Some states are looking at National Air Toxics Assessment data to understand the mobile sources component

  5. Mobile Sources Committee Work Plan • Committee is editing the Work Plan • Minor changes that reflect • Greater emphasis on diesel retrofits • Transition to MOVES from Mobile 6 • SAFETEA-LU changes to transportation conformity
