  5. Quantities & Changes • Primes need to understand that they have to deal with small quantities and erosion problems themselves or with on-location subs. • Quantities and When they Change – 1 week ahead at least. • Before We arrive - We can not afford our employees watching while the job is being redesigned. • Freight – Quantity increases can affect profit. • P.M. changing their mind or waiting until the last minute leads to the next topic. • These don’t apply to Eastern Nebraska AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction

  6. Schedule • We need a realistic view of when. • As job progresses. • Large problems need to be addressed ahead of time. • Large quantity changes need to be addressed ahead of time. • P.M. adding work, changing mind at the last minute or not sure how to address a problem, then putting it off. • Don’t make me lie to the next P.M. • Mobilization is always a problem - to your job or from your job. AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction

  7. Communication • Pre-construction Conference is a start – if the job has a 404 permit, is a large grading job or high profile job – the erosion contractor needs to attend. • Erosion contractors not knowing or understanding what needs to be accomplished before bidding and as project progresses. • On the job - what are the levels of authority to talk about problems. (NDOR & Prime Contractor) AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction

  8. Now The Job • Hard Shoulders & Other Places • Fertilizer Placement – All 18-46-0 • Seed Placement – Seed to Soil Contact • Installation of Blanket • Grass Growing is the Goal AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction

  9. Overview • Our employees are trained - more than we realize. • Certification will add to this and make them more valuable to us! • Most employees do not like the politics of a job they just want to do the job to the best of their ability and go home to their family. • By the end of the job we are managing 2 jobs -yours and the next one. AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction

  10. Summary • Quantities will Change - Early Communication is a LARGE part of the answer. • You affect the schedule of the next ? jobs. • West 2 – 4 East 8 – 10 • Communication is a Key Part of Solution. • Grass Growing is the Goal. • Employees are a Key Part of Quality Installations. • Help Us With Employee Morale AGC/NDOR Partners in Construction
