  1. What's New At Semi

  2. ho's New?

  3. Ms. Law returns after Retirement! Ms. Law was previously employed as a counsellor in 1985 at White Rock Jr. and at Semi from 1991-2007 at which time she retired. She then returned as a part-time counsellor until June 2008. She has returned to fill in as a Career Development Facilitator for Ms. Rein for the first semester.

  4. Eco-Friendly Councillor joins us from Lord Tweedsmuir Ms. Randa is our new councilor for students with last names P-Z. She comes with 20 years of counseling experience. She has heard great things about Semi and looks forward to getting to know staff and students alike. Ms. Randa is passionate about the environment and strongly believes in walking or biking to school.

  5. New Vice Principal Welcomed With Open Arms Ms. Pam De Luca has come with 3 years of experience as a Vice Principal from L A Matheson Secondary. She brings to Semi an eagerness for challenges and a goal to work with staff to improve student learning. Ms. De Luca has had a very positive first impression of Semi thanks to our welcoming staff and students.

  6. What's New? What's New?

  7. Another Art Piece Enriches Semi's Walls! Take a stroll around Semi and many amazing murals will stand out. In 2009, IB Art Student Su Hun Lee, along with helpers Jason Ren and Sara Pataky, created a new eye-catching piece. "Spiritual Walk" is located beside the staircase leading down to the math wing. It conveys the idea that there is a connection between man and nature all through the ups and downs of life. Su Hun Lee is currently attending university to become an art teacher.

  8. Semi Music's New Bassoon to Debut this Year! It has been many years since this valuable instrument has been added to our inventory and Mr. Fullerton, one of Semi's music instructors, is proud to welcome the new Schreiber bassoon, valued at around $6000. It is currently being played by Serena Ramley, but hopefully many others will be inspired. There is no doubt that wind ensembles will benefit from the bassoon's rich sound, and audiences can experience it for themselves at the Remembrance Day assembly, or the "Meet The Music Teacher" concert on October 1st.

  9. Semi Goes High-Tech! You might have noticed the big screened TV's located in various locations in the school, including the café and main entrance. These continually display the block order and announcements. New to us near the end of last year, these certainly qualify as ‘new to semi’.

  10. Been confused about times or late to class? You may have forgotten about our new Bell Schedule!

  11. Noticed these signs around lately? They’re part of a new anti-cellphone policy. Teachers can now take your phone if they see you with it during class time – even if you’re in the hallway.

  12. The September 2009 edition of YOUTHINK is out now. Give it a read while you wait for the next edition of the schools publication.

  13. This year, we have beautiful new planners, with a picture of the school on the cover. Be sure to use yours well.
