  4. Group Research Project Sample Question: Lines 4 & 5: I'm tired of bein' poor and even worse I'm black. / My stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch. What themes in Black Boy do you find echoed in these lines? Why would he be looking for a purse to snatch because his stomach hurts? Is it worse to be black and poor in America than white and poor? Why or why not? Can you find any statistics to support your opinion? “Black” and “snatch” don’t rhyme, exactly…what literary device is that?

  5. Sample Question: Lines 10 & 11: "It's time to fight back," that's what Huey said.  / Two shots in the dark now Huey's dead. Who is Huey? What were the circumstances of his death? Why would Tupac mention only his first name? Does his audience know who Huey is? Did you know, or did you have to look it up? Is that significant? What literary device is this?
