  1. Task 1 Situation: You are working at a holiday centre in St. Omer in France. A visitor enquires about staying at the centre. Your teacher will play the part of the visitor. Task: The visitor wants information about the accommodation and facilities available. Use the information leaflet to help you answer the questions and make some suggestions. The person testing you will play the part of the visitor and will start the conversation.

  2. Task 1 Holiday Village - St. Omer 16 Chalets – each for 4 people 2 bedrooms – one double and one with two individual beds. A large bathroom, shower, well equipped kitchen, TV, DVD player, Balcony with a sea view. Internet access. • Facilities: • swimming – outdoor pool open from April to October. • horse riding • mountain biking (bike hire) • golf • tennis, squash, table tennis • fishing – lake 1km from centre • Sauna and Jacuzzi • Restaurant - with child's play area Prices for 2008: May – August: 500-600€ per week for 4 people. September – April: 400-500€ per week. • Tourist Attractions: • Channel crossing / Channel tunnel – ½ hour in car. • Near towns of Boulogne and Calais - shopping / hypermarket / cathedral / historic town / pretty walks. • Bowling alley 10 minutes by foot!

The person testing you will play the part of the visitor and will start the conversation. Interaction is expected. Not just a succession of questions and answers. The idea is that candidates ‘take the lead’ after the introduction. The list below is to help you. Je voudrais faire une réservation s’il vous plait. Vous avez un gîte libre? C’est combien pour réserver un gîte? Qu’est-ce qu’il y a dans le gîte? Qu’est-ce qu’il y a pour les enfants? Vous avez un restaurant? Qu’est-ce qu’on peut manger dans le restaurant? Il y a beaucoup de choses à voir dans la région? Je voudrais faire du sport – est-ce possible? Qu’est-ce qu’on peut faire le soir? On peut louer des bicyclettes? Vous aimez votre travail? Pourquoi (pas)? Avez-vous visité Calais? C’était comment?

  4. Task 2 Situation: You work at the reception of a leisure centre. A French visitor enquires about the facilities at the leisure centre. Your teacher will play the part of the French visitor. Task: Use the information leaflet to help you deal with the customer. Explain that you have done some of these activities and say what you think of them. You will need to ask questions to find out what the visitor likes doing.

Task 2 Shelstone Leisure Centre Opening hours: Monday – Friday 7am to 22pm Weekend – 9am – 21pm Closed on bank holidays. • Facilities: • 2 swimming pools (3 water slides) • 6 tennis courts • gymnasium • ice rink • sauna, solarium and Jacuzzi • weights room • Childs play area Prices: A day pass (all facilities) – Adults £12 Children £6 Ice rink (3 hrs) Adults £5 Children £3 Tennis court - £5 Swimming pool (sauna etc.)– Adults £4 Children £3 Gym and weights room - £8 (Equipment can be hired at additional cost) New! Intermediate Dance lessons – Every Mon / Wed / Fri at 6pm! Liberty’s Café! Open all day – offering snacks, drinks and newspapers to read!

Qu’est-ce qu’on peut manger dans le restaurant? Quels sports peut-on faire? Quel est ton sport préféré? Pourquoi? C’est combien pour utiliser le sauna? Il y a un gymnase? C’est combien l’entrée pour les adultes? Il est possible de louer des équipements? Qu’est-ce qu’on peut faire le soir? Vous aimez votre travail? Pourquoi (pas)? Avez-vous fait le cours de danse? C’était comment?
