CLARE:isolation, feeling unsupported New school THOMAS:new MDT Future schooling Ongoing developmental challenges ROB:unable to support Gina fully, travels with new job Background to the Brown family • THOMAS, 4- has cerebral palsy • GINA, pregnant with 3rd child • CLARE, 7-truanting, at risk • ROB-breadwinner, new job • RELOCATION presents new factors, needs and underlying issues • FAMILY • EG:Loss of support/loneliness • Financial strain • GINA:anxiety/depression/ tiredness • Fear for new baby(disability) • Fear of reoccurrence of PND

GINA-liaise midwife team of helpers (POC)s/s rest and respite treat depression paternity leave (ROB) extra time for CLARE mother/baby group, make friends/settle in community CLARE-liaise school mentoring taxi/walk with mentor to school child psychologist THOMAS-acclimatise to new MDT decision on future schooling full ongoing support condition specific agencies/info/friends/ support for all family s/s holiday for FAMILY PriorityAreas of Intervention

SPECIAL SCHOOL-pro’s would not feel “different” adapted environment specialist trained staff “safer” environment smaller classes con’s not the “real” world often further to travel quality of education? Costs? Not part of local community challenge independence? MAINSTREAM pro’s same school as Clare mix with able bodied disability act(environment adaptation) local/integrate in community after school activities/less travel may reach higher potential con’s possible bullying(Clare & Thomas) lack of adaptive equipment independence training? Bigger classes less trained workers stigma/prejudice disability act-lift/wheelchair access? PRO’s & CON’s of schooling for Thomas
