    4. 9th Grade College Planning Develop course plans for this year and next three years. Begin High School Resume-keep track of all extracurricular activities, academic awards, community involvement, and so forth Spend time identifying goals and values, academic interests and abilities, personal interests, and possible career interests.

    5. 9th Grade College Planning Continued Schedule next years classes-take challenging and rigorous courses. Look for a great summer job, internship, or volunteer position. Begin a summer reading list. Develop good reading habits to better position yourself for the SAT and/or ACT

    6. 10th Grade College Planning Review your high school courses plans with your guidance counselor. Ask your counselor about taking the PSAT. Update your high school resume. Explore resources available to you in the guidance office Attend college fair at BCC

    7. 10th Grade College Planning Continued Meet with your counselor to discuss PSAT score report. Continue to work on developing effective reading habits Schedule next year’s classes-take challenging and rigorous courses. Register for SAT II test, if appropriate

    8. 10th Grade College Planning Continued Look for a great summer job, internship, or volunteer position. Continue to add to your summer reading list. Take an summer enrichment course. Visit colleges campuses.

    9. What is the PSAT? The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Qualifying Test is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT I: Reasoning Test and SAT II: Writing Test.

    10. What is the PSAT continued? The PSAT also gives students a chance to qualify for National Merit Scholarship Corporation’s (NMSC) scholarship programs.

    13. High School Transcript Official record of high school work Transcript is cumulative: 9th – 12th grade Transcript starts in 9th grade – every course and grade counts! Take challenging and rigorous courses!

    14. Extracurricular Activities Participation in activities throughout grades 9 – 12 is most important. Community service is “hot” item! Quality participation in one or few activities Leadership role
