What People “Like” • Windows • Doors • Insulation
What is “Easy” • Windows • Doors • Insulation
What is “Hard” • Air sealing – where are the leaks? • Space conditioning – if you want to use a different technology

What Works • Metric? • In low-income weatherization, the metric is Savings-to-Investment Ratio (SIR) SIR = • Means how many times the measure will pay for itself
What Works • Air sealing • Insulation • Upgrades to high-efficiency space conditioning systems • Sealing ducts outside of conditioned space • Lighting • Refrigeration
What Works • Primary goal should be to have the thermal and pressure boundary aligned • Air seal first • Then insulate • Air leakage is like having the windows open

What Doesn’t Work • Routine weatherstripping and caulking • Tune-ups • Sealing ducts inside conditioned space • Doors • Windows
