  1. Adding a Network- Convergent Service to the Connected Services Sandbox making services simple www.networkmashups.com

  2. Benefits of Joining the Sandbox With its telecom service platform, jNetX has a long history of opening up the developer community for network operators, allowing them to build services quickly and easily for their enterprise and consumer customers. Thanks to the Microsoft Connected Services Sandbox, jNetX can now meet the large community of .NET developers, whose internet services will be able to collaborate with pure telecom network services, and create new types of innovative applications mixing communication and Web features. The Sandbox also brings a fully integrated environment including centralized provisioning and billing facilities, which save time, money and frustration when introducing new services. The Value of Mashups Mashups allow jNetX to quickly demonstrate to the developer community their ability to create communications services that also include Microsoft services: For example, geo mapping from VirtualEarth and instant messaging from MSN combined with assets and features in the communications network, such as SMS, voice communications, or legacy IM.

  3. Buddy Finder: What is It? Network Presence and Location • Using the Buddy Finder application, Cindy can locate her buddies on a map • The map is centered on her own location (red triangle) • The map displays the location of the buddies who are located in Cindy’s vicinity (blue circle) Cindy (User) Call Control and Messaging • Clicking on the contact icon on a map, Cindy can communicate with a buddy, via either voice or messaging • Contact options include: • Messaging: SMS, MSN instant messaging , e-mail • Click-to-call: mobile phone, fixed phone, soft client • Contact options are controlled by buddy’s presence and user’s preferences • The service can send a notification message to the user when a buddy enters into or exits from a defined zone

  6. Benefits for the Network Operator: Leverages the network assets: location, presence, voice, messaging New source of revenue through usage fees or subscription fees Generic LBS/geo-fencing service that can be adapted for both the consumer and enterprise markets Can be enriched with location-based advertisement Benefits for Users: Easy to use and understand Leverage existing buddy lists (e.g. MSN) Buddy Finder: Value Proposition jNetX’ Value in the Solution • Network Convergence: • Supports legacy assets (SS7 network, vendor proprietary interfaces)… as well as IMS and IP-based assets • Field proven carrier grade performance and service availability (99.999%) • Programmability: • Network Operators can customize the APIs to be exposed • Based on jNetX Service Creation tools and JAIN SLEE standard

  7. Summary www.networkmashups.com • Sign up for Sandbox • Use new tools and services being added regularly to Sandbox • Contact csnetmaa@microsoft.com for tech support • Build proofs of concept on Sandbox www.jnetx.com • Market leader for Java-based telecom application servers • Selected by major network operator groups worldwide • Web service APIs hiding the network layer complexity, for call control, messaging, network presence, and location • Allows for network API customization and enrichment, for a better market differentiation
