  1. Know the Difference Between Spring Assisted and Switchblade Knives Switchblade, also known by the name spring loaded knives have been around for many centuries. It was around the year 1890 when new mass production techniques made switchblades readily available for buy at significantly lower costs. Post the Second World War, many American soldiers returning back home from the European continent brought along some sophisticated switchblades. These knives would later get the name Italian stiletto switchblade knife. These stilettos were equipped with a completely fresh style of blade, which had a slender bayonet along with a single ground dagger edge. This discretely false edge was designed mainly to be used as an offensive weapon. It was best for thrusting, and its cutting abilities were subdued. Many of the blades at that time came were missing a cutting edge, and were made primarily for fighting. All in all, switchblades became very popular as they continue to remain so even after so many years! Let’s now talk about the elephant in the room which is knowing the difference between switchblade knives and spring assisted ones. While they may have similar operations and functionalities, however, there is a slight difference between, which is subtle but it needs a mention. A switchblade opens up its blade right from the handle in an automatic mechanism; you press a button/lever mounted in the handle of the knife and that’s enough to wow your audience. A spring assisted blade knife on

  2. the other hand, makes use of a lever or switch which is mounted directly on the blade or it may also be attached to the blade with the help of a direct mechanical linkage. For the latter, you need manual pressure on the lever. This pressure would override the pressure present on the spring that keeps the blade shut. Doing so, would effectively cause the blade to emerge (partially) from the handle. You just just need to push the blade out with about 10 percent, and then the spring takes over. Then a rapid force would completely take out the blade, exposing it completely and in a locked state. For the beginners, we argue you’d be able to tell the difference in the blade-opening speed when observing the knives. With time and experience, you will figure out a lot of other nuances in between that we are not going to discuss here as we think that would ruin the whole experience of using them. When you think about purchasing a switchblade for whatever reasons, you might want to consider purchasing a spring assisted knife. They resemble switchblade knives in so many ways, and add to this the fact that there are fewer restrictions or legal hassles possessing spring assisted knives when you compare that to switchblades.
