  2. What is multicultural education? • A philosophy that states that all people deserve equity, equality, freedom, and justice. This philosophy also states that students should begin learning these values to promote acceptance in our schools, communities, and society.

  3. Where do we start? • Multicultural education begins in schools beyond lessons in the classroom, assemblies, and literature. Multicultural education must be written in policy and be a component of every day school practices. It also begins in students taking a stand!

  4. Policy in Schools • In order to increase multicultural education in schools, policy must be written and enforced. Schools must implement every day practices that promote equality, freedom, justice, and equity.

  5. Curriculum Must address • Sexism • Heterosexism • Religious Intolerance • Racism • Ageism • Linguicism • Xenophobia

  6. How to respect one another • Treat everyone with respect • We are all people who all deserve the same rights, freedoms, equality, and justice • The acceptance of everyone will allow us to build a stronger society.

  7. Make a difference, Respect One Another • “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” • -Mahatma Gandhi
