How to get your website on the first page of Google First let me say that I have gotten websites on the first page of Google a lot of times, for my own websites and for my clients. I get asked how I did it because a lot of people want to know how to get on the first page of Google, and there is a reason for that; if you can get on the first page of Google, you are almost guaranteed to get a lot more traffic to your website and all things being equal, more traffic equals more money. So that’s what you want, your website on the 1st page of Google. But what does Google want? And how do you get what you want by giving Google what it wants? Google wants people to use Google as their search engine and people won’t use Google as their search engine if the sites that are on the first page aren’t what people are looking for when they do their searching. So the trick to getting your page to the top of Google is to be the best possible source for people that are looking for that thing. Now you might be thinking, “Look, I just want to sell tires in Milwaukee. I sell tires, I’m in Milwaukee what else can I say?” Talk about the tires, give people advice about what kind of tires are best for which application or maybe the best tires at each price point. And yes, make sure you give your address as being in Milwaukee. You also want to make sure you are giving your address in a format that Google understands, because including your address not only helps your SEO, but it helps Google direct people to you when they type in something like “Tires Near Me.” Your website probably does that already, but you may need to tweaks to the copy writing because Google also cares about how long people hang around on your website, and if your content is difficult to read then people won’t hang around and Google won’t keep you on the first page.
