  1. Why Working Out In A Group Setting Is Beneficial To Your Health Your workout is among the THREE most important activities you do every day (along with a good night sleep and healthy eating). It's vital that you make every moment of exercise count, as exercise is the only thing preventing a sedentary lifestyle from severely impacting your health. Even if you're a more active person, exercise is essential to keep you strong and flexible. Do you know what the hardest part about exercise is? That's right: keeping up with your workout every consistently! Exercise can be fun, but most of the time it tends to feels like work—that's why it's called a "work out", right? The problem with this is that anything that feels like work adds to your stress, and people want to avoid stress during their "leisure time". When the stress is mounting, the first thing to go is often the daily workout. But why not work out with friends? Studies have proven that socialization makes you happier and boosts your mood. Add to that the mood-boosting benefits of exercise, and all of a sudden you've got TWICE as much positive incentive to exercise.

  2. Group workouts offer three main benefits: Camaraderie– When working out with others, it's always fun to see each other's progress and cheer the other people on. The physical exertion bonds you to the rest of your group, helping to developing a spirit of camaraderie and friendship. Motivation– Sometimes, we all need a little "kick in the pants" to get past a rough day or a heavy workload. When working out and training with others, we get the motivation from them that keep us going. Everyone in the group helps to lift each other up and provide encouragement on the worst of days. Accountability– When you've made a commitment to a group of people, it's much harder to back out of it than it would be if you were doing something alone. By doing a group training session, you're accountable to each other. If one person doesn't show up, it's very clear to the group who's actually working hard. Thus, the positive peer pressure will keep everyone working and training. If you're looking for a place to start a group workout, join My Health Guy at Shape Up LA for FREE weekly workouts.
