G&T Activity • Senior school with subject specialist staff who like to make time to do something a bit different and challenging • Senior school / Junior school interface • Summer term good to make time to think more broadly • Whole school effort – marketing and logistics and teachers • Do it once and then its easy!

  3. Transformation Day • A day for year 5 pupils fromlocal schools • 80 pupils in total

  4. Organisation of the day • English • Drama • Physics • Chemistry • A unifying theme - TRANSFORMATION • Rotation of mini activities and grouping of children • About 10am to 2:30pm

Testing Indicators Instructions (Spare ) 1 2 3 Add 3 drops of lemon juice in each dimple along this row Add 3 drops of shampoo solution in each dimple along this row Add 3 drops of bicarbonate of soda solution in each dimple along this row Test your indicators by adding 1-2 drops down the columns i.e. Only add strawberry juice in the 3 dimples going down column 1.

  6. How to...Make fluorescent slime • Work on one of the trays provided • Take a plastic cup containing some PVA glue • Add two generous squirts of dye using a dropper and stir thoroughly with a spatula • Now add Borax solution a squirt at a time to the mixture mixing as you add • Mix using your spatula until the right consistency has been reached. TIP: You should no longer see any ‘white’ in your mixture • Take the slime out of the cup and have a good ‘squish’ using your hands • Write your name on a bag so you can take your slime home • Your slime will glow under UV light! • Wash your hands at the end of your time in this laboratory
