  4. Once there were 3 little pigs. The first was lazy and built his house out of straw. The second pig worked a little harder and built a wood house. The third pig worked really hard and built his house out of bricks. Everyone thought he was just being paranoid until the big bad wolf came. The big bad wolf marched straight to the straw house, blew it down, and ate the pig. Still feeling hungry, he marched to the wood house. He huffed and puffed, but he couldn’t blow down the wood house, so he kicked down the door and ate the pig. Hungry for dessert, the wolf wandered over to the brick house. He tried blowing it down but couldn’t. Then he tried kicking it down, but the bricks hurt his foot. Finally, he just went home.

In other words, you may not want to complete a difficult task, but your hard work may help you out in the future.

Some people and things areout to cause harm. 3 Support Your Point I know this because in the text a big bad wolf wasrunning around eating the pigs, and the ones without protection died. 4 Connect Your Support This shows readers that it is important to have a way to protect yourself from the bad things in thisworld, otherwise you may be eaten.

  13. On Monday, Kathy’s friend Pam invited her over to watch cartoons. Kathy agreed, but that night when Pam called, Kathy ignored the call and just ate chips on her couch. On Wednesday, Samantha invited Kathy over to her house to share pictures and Kathy said, “Sure.” But when Samantha called, Kathy ignored her call and painted her fingernails. On Friday, Kathy received no invitations. She tried to call her friends Pam and Samantha, but they ignored her calls and Kathy spent the night bored and alone. What lesson can readers learn from this story?
