PROTAGONISTS OF THE DEVELPMENT • In the world scenario there are new countries contributing the the development, other than the advanced ones • The history of the development protagostists takes origine from South Corea in the fiftys, then the so-called four tigers (Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan) • It follows the very well known group of the BRIC countries (Brasil, Russia, India and China) and then becaming BRICS (with the addition of South Africa) • Still important is the contribution of the Gulf countries (Kuwait, Quatar, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) as well as Iran and Saudi Arabia • More recently other dynamic countries are given an increasing contribution to the world development such as: Indonesia, Mexico, Turkey, Colombia, Uganda (the only Sub-Saharian country), Vietnam and partially Nigeria. • Major differences can be recognize with respect to developed countries as contribution to development derives from natural resource’s export, exports of low cost goods, labor productivity (not much from the industrialization)

CHINA ROLE • The importance of China in the world scenario is not only due to its domestic and external dinamism as China is now becoming the major defender of the free market • China is expanding its influence abroad mainly in countries rich in terms of natural resources: • Natural resources import from Africa represents 20% of the total needs • New investments in Africa regard infrastructures and industries by creating new free-zones (Mauritius, Zambia, Ethiopia, Egypt • Great expansion concerns agriculture via the so-called land graber (local agricultural lands run directly by chineese entrepreneurs
