  1. Life Science Week 19 Unit 4 Organization of Life Classification

  2. Standard S7L1.a • Demonstrate the process for the development of a dichotomous key.

  3. Standard S7L1.b • Classify organisms based on physical characteristics using a dichotomous key of the six kingdom system (archaebacteria, eubacteria, protists, fungi, plants, and animals)

  4. Tuesday Warm-up • Find your new seat on chart on side board • Get an IAN • Put name on page 1 – artistically • Number pages 1-140 on bottom outer corner

  5. Expections • Be on time and be prepared • Pencil or pen • Textbook • IAN • Homework from previous day

  6. Do your work! • All assignments are due next day unless another due date is given. • All students who do not turn in work on time will be subject to ZAP • Silent lunch • Detention (with me) • FAA • Referral to administrator

  7. Stay Seated • You have an assigned seat • That is where you should be unless you have permission to be elsewhere

  8. No talking out of turn • There are times for you to talk … about science topics. • Other than that, do not talk. Especially about off topic subjects.

  9. Follow Directions • You will soon be in 8th grade • You MUST be able to follow directions the first time they are given.

  10. No Food Zone • No eating • No drinking • NO EXCEPTIONS UNLESS I PROVIDE THE FOOD AND TELL YOU TO EAT IT!!

  11. Tardy • You must be in the classroom when the bell rings or you are tardy. • First tardy – warning • Second tardy – silent lunch • Third tardy – detention ( with me) • Fourth tardy – referral to administrator

  12. 15 minute freeze • No passes for any reason during first 15 minutes of class. • No passes for any reason during last 15 minutes of class. • DO NOT ASK or you won’t go later either.

  13. Hallway Behavior • If you are in the hall • Walk on the right in straight line • Be silent • No exceptions

  14. Passes • Restroom – take wooden or plastic pass • Other – pass in agenda – NO EXCEPTIONS

  15. Grades • Homework – 10% • Classwork/Quizzes – 20% • Notebook – 20% • Labs/lab reports – 25% • Tests/Projects – 25%

  16. Lunch • 11:28 – 11:48, Line 1, Table 11,12,13 • No talking in hall • Get vending on way in • Go through line to get food • Sit down and stay seated until time to go • Walk in silent line to restroom or back to class

  17. Silent Reading • 12:17 – 12:37 daily you will read AR book silently.

  18. Set Up IAN • Number Pages 1 – 140 • Table of Contents pages 3-5 (140 pages) • Warm Ups page 121 – 140.

  19. Wednesday Warmup (111) • Human brains automatically organize things into categories. • List five things and the category they belong to.

  25. Pamishams • Use the dichotomous key to identify the pamishams.

  26. Create a key IAN #9 • See p. 221 • Two groups – odd tables & even tables pushed together. • Use one shoe from each person in the group.
