According to legend, Phyllis had been married to the beautiful Demophon, left for the Trojan War.  The war was over but Demophon was late coming back from the beloved, who was reached by the false news that her husband would never return. Phyllis desperate escaped from Greece and came on in place of the Sibylline Castel Leone took his own life and his body turned into an almond tree, a large tree, beautiful but leafless.  Demophonreturned home and, finding his sweetheart decided to travel to look for her.Couples of Castel Leone also learned the tragic death of Phyllis, and they did not had nothing to do but embrace the trunk of the almond tree, as if by magic, became leafy and full of gems. From that ancient almond tree, the town was named  Amandola.

  4. This procession is held on the last Sunday in August to give thank to Beato Antonio, the patron Saint of Amandola. The parade exhibiting the fruit of the harvest, in the case wheat, starts in a small piazza and proceeds to the Church of Saint Agostino.

  6. This event is on the 2nd Sunday in November and white truffles from the Sibillini area as well as other typical foods are displayed and sold. The streets are filled with smells and flavours typical to our region.
