  6. Water Management • Pencegahan oksidasi terhadap pirit yang berada dalam blok pun akan dipengaruhi oleh jarak parit dengan pirit tersebut. Semakin cepat air meresap dan menutupi lapisan atas pirit, maka semakin efektif juga upaya kita untuk menciptakan kondisi anaerob (reduksi). • Dengan demikian, mengetahui tingkat permeabilitas tanah di lapangan adalah hal yang penting untuk menentukan jarak antar parit (field drain) yang tepat. Ini dapat dilakukan dengan pembuatan sumur pantau di dalam blok untuk membandingkan level permukaan air tanah dalam blok dengan level air pada saluran drainase. Acid Sulphate Soil
