Introduction to PRINCE2® • An acronym for PRojects INControlled Environments and commonly called PRINCE2® • Implements effective Project Management skills for a successful completion of projects • Avails guidance to the Projects Managers for conducting and managing the projects • Assists in using the best methods that are well tested in industries

  3. 7 Principles of PRINCE2® Business Justification  Learn from Stages  Roles & Responsibilities Break work Into Stages Manage by Exceptions (Board Members) Focus on Project Quality Tailor to suit the environment

  4. Business Justification • Project Initiation should take place with a clear understanding • Focus should be on customer needs, real time benefits, and detailed cost calculation

  5. Learn from Stages • Every stage teaches the lesson to the project teams • These should be considered as a feedback for the future assignments

  6. Roles and Responsibilities • Proper responsibilities should be assigned at the beginning of the Projects • Team members should be aware of their own work, along with roles and responsibilities of other peers

  7. Break Work Into Stages • Projects must be broken into small phases • Phases allows to review the work progress and analyze, if the project is following the right success path

  8. Manage by Exceptions • Project baseline is declared and the Project Managers are expected to meet the deadline • If the project goes out of track, it can be taken over by the Project Board Members (only in exceptional cases) to make it reach the goal

  9. Focus on Project Quality • Quality register is used to keep the track of the progress of a Project • The deliverables of the project are checked timely and compared against the defined targets

  10. Tailor to Suit the Environment • PRINCE2® methods must be tailored in adherence to the requirements of the project • The oversized projects must be altered in terms of amount, depending upon the number of the team members involved
